Here for your entertainment - an outside experience of the shell of a personality. Extensions of ones identity, and formations of which. The Performers is a collection driven by the costumed appearance of those who dazzle us on stage and on the silver screen. Adhering to a script of curated imagery, a preservation of story, a character, and who we are.
Using two well known affectionados of Westernwear, Dolly Parton and John Wayne, The Performers introduces the novelties of costume, and removes them from their context to create a jarring effect. Well know hair attached to a handbag, transparent dresses exposing the real beneath the hidden, and the amalgamation of garment archetypes to show that these individuals are just combinations of each other, regurgitated to create a novel appearance.
SEMESTER 1, YEAR 3 - Concrete sand
Offered the opportunity to develop a new skillset in bag construction, Studio 5 was a push to further understand how the addition of accessories can enhance ones body of work. Learning how to correctly patternmake, cut, and construct leather has been a valuable undertaking, and will influence future collections.
Jordyn adapted her sustainability values by procuring vintage bag handles, ethically sourced hair, and all leather and trims used in the construction of the bag were purchased from a local Ballarat tannery, that used vegetable tanning in place of chrome. Fabrications used in the construction of the garments were deadstock, and organic cotton/hemp denim.
