MILLINERY
Undertaking millinery as an elective in her second year of studies, Jordyn quickly found herself at home amongst straw, felt and leather. A concept based around the construction of hats influenced by World War I propaganda, her creations being derivatives from pilots jackets, to women being forced to watch on during Australia’s conscription debates. Silhouettes were modernised through contemporary remakes, but elements such as the soldiers helmet, and the ironically popular prior to the commencement of the war, ‘The Merry Widow’ hat were referenced for historical placement.
Since undertaking this elective, Jordyn has since been interning at Melbourne Millinery, a bespoke millinery, bridal, and occasional wear studio in Melbourne. Here Jordyn has continued to learn and partake in the construction of delicate millinery pieces. In studios since, she has produced millinery pieces to go along with her collections as she feels they complete an outfit, and tie a concept together neatly.
